How will the winners be selected?
We will select the winners after all submissions have been collected and carefully deliberated. There is no on-chain voting or other on-chain process. Judges will include an EMURGO senior designer. Please follow @thecardanocard for the results of the competition.
What's the judging criteria?
We will take into consideration factors such as, but not limited to, overall design, community feedback, Cardano branding, and rules/criteria alignment.
What are the rules?
The top 3 designs will win 1,000 ADA each.
The competition runs from July 29th to August 11th.
Winners will be announced thereafter.
Designs from winning entries may be adopted and used to inspire the design of the Cardano Card.
How do I submit a design?
You can either drop us your custom designs as a reply in the original Design Competition announcement thread on @thecardanocard’s X OR post your card design on X and tag @thecardanocard for the competition entry.
Will the card be physical or virtual?
This will be decided upon further discussion and review with the card issuer. However, we have seen demand for a virtual card.
When will the winning design be released as a card?
Designs from winning entries may be adopted and used to inspire the design of the Cardano Card.
How and when will the ADA be paid out?
Upon selecting the three winners, we will announce them in an official post on @thecardanocard and reach out to the winners with further instructions. Please stay tuned for the design competition winners’ announcement post.
Who owns the copyright to the design?
By participating in the design competition, you give EMURGO all rights to use or reproduce your work.
Can I edit the designs later?
No. The winning designs will be submitted to our partners. If selected as one of the winning entries, your design will be forwarded to our partners for consideration. However, final approval and production decisions rest solely with the card issuers. EMURGO makes no guarantees that any submitted or winning design will be approved for use on an actual card.
Can I submit more than one design?
Yes, but only one will be considered at the end of the competition.
What files are accepted?
Accepted file formats: .PSD, .AI, or .SVG.
No JPEG, PNG unless source files included.
AI-generated? That’s fine. But we still need the source file.
Will there be one lucky winner?
The three winners will each receive 1,000 ADA, and their design may be adopted or used to inspire the design of the Cardano Card, depending on card issuer approval.
Why only three winners?
We feel three winners allow for different designs to be celebrated that best fit what we're looking for.
Are there second- and third-place winners, and do they get paid differently?
Each of the three winners will receive 1,000 ADA.
Does the design have to be Cardano or ADA-focused?
Yes, as this is a Cardano Card, we encourage designs to reflect Cardano-inspired branding.
